Your problems stay on your device
All calculations run in your browser. The numbers and expressions you enter are not sent to our server and are not stored.
Server logs
Our web server logs the IP address, time, page requested, browser string and status code. We use the logs to keep the site working and block abuse, and delete them after a short time.
Feedback
If you use the “helpful” or “needs work” buttons and send the form, we keep the time, your choice, the page, the topic and any note (up to 1,000 characters). Your IP address is not saved with it; a one-way hash is held for 20 seconds to slow spam. Please keep personal information out of the note. We retain the newest 300 entries and will delete yours if you Use the contact form, choose “Rights or removal request” and give the page and rough time; the matching entry is deleted.
Emails you send us
If you write to [email protected], your message and address are used only to reply, and the thread is deleted when the matter is closed.
Cookies, analytics and ads
Math Lantern sets no cookies, uses no analytics and shows no ads today. Before that changes we will update this page and request consent where the law requires.
Delivery network
Pages are served through a content-delivery and security provider that sees visitor IP addresses to route traffic and block attacks.
Students and children
Students of all ages use calculators like these. The site does not ask for names, ages or accounts and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Your rights
If the GDPR, UK GDPR or California privacy law applies to you, you may ask for access, correction or deletion of data we hold about you. Email the feedback form on the contact page (choose “Rights or removal request”). You can also write to [email protected].
